Dave Hill
Dave Hill is the lead singer for Ground Zero. He lives in Northern Michigan with his wife Patty and daughter Lexi. His soulful and honest voice is the texture that defines the “Ground Zero” sound. A musical person from day one, Dave plays the trumpet as well as the guitar. He has been, and continues to be, a solo performer as a guitarist/singer. He and fellow “Ground Zero” band-mate Mike Doremire recently formed the acoustic duo “Where’s Steven?”
Mike Doremire
Mike Doremire is a northern Michigan native and has been playing guitar for over 30 years. Some of the bands he has played with include: The Wise Guys, Ground Zero, Remnants, Brian Whitecell Band and the newly reformed Ground Zero Band. For Ground Zero, Mike plays electric and acoustic guitars and both lead and rhythm. During his early years he was influenced by Michael Schenker, Alex Lifeson, Pat Travers, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck to name a few. He now enjoys many other guitarist styles and music genres such as: Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II, Warren Haynes, Buddy Guy, Zack Wylde, Vince Gill and too many more to mention! Mike's primary guitar is a 78' Gibson Les Paul Custom. For a live performance he will play Taylor acoustics, a 59' Gibson Les Paul Reissue, Fender Strats and a Carvin California Carved Top. Mike plays through Marshall Amps.
Mark DeVault
Mark DeVault started playing in bars during his senior year (1978) while also playing for the High School Jazz band. After graduation, he spent the next three and a half years as a member of the very popular local rock band – “Diamond Willow”. In the fall of 1981 Mark moved to Texas with a Bass player to join other musicians that were waiting in Austin. The band was short lived, but while living in Austin, a couple of opportunities presented themselves. Mark started a band with Natalie Zoe and jammed with Chris Duarte, taking over his band when he moved on. At the time, both acts were big draws in the Austin music scene.
In 1990 Mark moved back to Michigan to be closer to family as well as run the family business. In his absence, his brother Keith became a “damn good drummer”. The next twenty years were spent in and out of bands together until finally arriving at their current band – “Ground Zero”. An already well established band of talented musicians, “Ground Zero” had risen to popularity during the 90s and continues to entertain audiences throughout Michigan.

Keith DeVault
Keith DeVault, born in Pontiac and raised in Northern Michigan, spent most of his life surrounded by the beautiful Great Lakes. His musical inspiration came when he was only seven years old by watching his older brother Mark, who was already playing in bands. “The motivation sparked me to embrace many experiences and fulfill gratitude as a musician” Keith says of his early experience. He move his family to Nashville, Tennessee, where he was able to become accomplished in many different styles of music, perform live, and survive long hours in the studio. “There are no limitations for the ability to perform, only for those who settle.”
Flashpointe, Cover – Up, French Kiss, Onnie James (and the uphill road band), Miss Behavin', Remnants, and Band Project are just a few of the projects that Keith as been involved with over the years. Carter Beauford, Stewart Copeland and Neil Peart remain some of his most inspirational influences.
“Special thanks to my loving wife Carrie and my two boys Brett and Ben for supporting me all of these years. Also, a special thanks to Mom, Dad, family and friends. Thank you all.”

Dave Runyan

Dave Runyan was born and raised in Northern Michigan, currently living in Bellaire where he owns a recording studio with his wife Monique. Working as a recording engineer/producer at his IFR Studio, Dave also works out of Rolling Thunder Studios in Traverse City as a mastering engineer. He has two daughters (Rachel and Miranda) and is enrolled in the aviation program at Northwestern Michigan College.
Dave started playing bass at the age of fourteen and was playing in bars that same year with band members that were all in their twenties. By time he was eighteen, he had added piano and guitar to his abilities as a musician. “Ground Zero”, a band formed out of the ruins of another project that had run its course, was the band by which all other projects would be measured in Dave’s mind. In the early 1990s. Mike Doremire, Dave Hill, Jeff Greene and Dave played to packed rooms, had fun, and lived life for four years together. At this time Dave teamed up with singer/songwriter Brian Whitecell, who was forming a band to support his recent win of WKLT’s “Northern Michigan Rocks” competition. Starting out as Brian’s bassist, after goofing off at a rehearsal on keyboards, Dave was asked to become the new group’s keyboardist and collaborating songwriter. Mike Doremire later joined the group as its live lead guitarist. After four years of performing and recording with Brian, Dave decided to concentrate mainly on the music production side of the business.
In 2005 he joined the already established “Blue Frog” band as the bassist. This is where he met drummer Jen Harrison, who later formed the group “Abandinus” with Dave and recorded a CD titled “Forest”. Currently “Ground Zero” has reformed with the addition of Mark and Keith DeVault, and Dave is thrilled to be back in the band that is his “Gold Standard” when it comes to performing live music.

Dave plays a Conklin Bass through a SWR 350 Professional head into a Powerhouse 1200 Mesa Boogie Cabinet.
